Rising tensions between India-Pakistan leaves women’s cricket series in doubt

This rising tension between India and Pakistan have also affected the women’s cricket between the two nations, with the upcoming series between India and Pakistan women’s cricket team in jeopardy.

As part of the ICC Women’s Championship, India and Pakistan are scheduled to play a bilateral series between July 2019 to November 2019, to be hosted by India.

Considering the same, the BCCI has sought permission from the government to host the series, however, the government is yet to give a reply on the same.

According to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan hasn’t contacted the Indian officials to check on the status of the series as they believe that this is India’s responsibility as they are hosting the series.

The source added, no contact has been made from the India side over the series either.

In the past, the Indian women’s cricket had to suffer on refusing to play against Pakistan, despite Pakistan offering to play the series at a neutral venue.

Due to India’s refusal to play the series, Pakistan was awarded the points.

An International Cricket Council (ICC) spokesman said the series between the two countries and it was the responsibility of the member countries to arrange the series.

The spokesman added, if the issue of points table came to ICC, it will be resolved.
